Anyone know the top caribbean schools? I am on 2 waitlists at US MD schools but I am already getting ready to reapply just in case those don't work out. I am also thinking about applying to some schools in the caribbean, but I don't know which ones (and I don't know how to find out about them). Thanks.

Have you checked out the Caribbean forum on SDN? It's on the International forums section.

Also, ValueMD.com is a good resource if you're looking at foreign medical schools.

Each school has its pros and cons, but most people will probably tell you that the most popular non-AAMC, non-LCME offshore schools are:

SGU (St. George's University)
Ross
AUC (American University of the Caribbean)
Saba
St. Matthew's

Good luck with the waitlists

Must have some interesting conversations in the Caribbean forum, when the only sticky on the board reminds you that you can "ignore" other users and their comments.

The "top 3" are reportedly AUC, SGU and Ross. You can read about them by going to their websites. AUC is on the island of St Maarten, SGU is in Grenada, and Ross is Dom Rep.

Visit www.valuemd.com for the full scoop on the schools. There are many more, but, if you choose a school with 25+yrs of existence, they are well established and you can contact alumni to get their views.

Good luck.

I forgot to mention, since these schools are 'for-profit', if you're a good candidate for u.s. schools, you're (almost) guaranteed a spot in the Caribbean. They are private and want your tuition, as long as you've met their requirements for admission.
