Carle-Illinois College of Medicine LCME accredited and open to applications

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
anyone have info on when the secondary opens?
From Jazzmetal's post (#80) in the School-Specific thread:
- everyone will get a secondary:
"We will not be screening before sending secondary applications. In an effort to support greater equity and access, we will invite everyone who applies to complete our (free) secondary application. Every application will then be given full consideration under our holistic review. Applicants can expect to receive secondary applications by the end of the month." (I got this email today, so I'm assuming that "end of month" means end of November.)

Early Clinical Experience

You will have immediate clinical experience through interacting with real patients in your first week. During the clinical integration course, you will be paired with a physician mentor who will guide you through developing foundational clinical skills and an understanding of healthcare systems. Your family medicine clerkship begins at the start of your second year.

Carle Health System will offer Carle Illinois students in-depth clinical experiences in internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, psychiatry, neurology, family medicine, obstetrics and gynecology. Students will have an early opportunity to engage in advanced clinical electives.

Anybody get this email? And does this actually mean anything?

“I would like to personally invite you to a special Carle Illinois event on Saturday January 27, in Champaign-Urbana. This is an invitation only event for some of our most competitive applicants (with travel scholarships available to individuals who can demonstrate need). At this event you will meet campus and clinical faculty, learn more about our unique curriculum, participate in a problem-based learning activity, tour our clinical facilities, learn about our community, and have your questions answered. I hope you’ll walk away appreciating all that Carle Illinois has to offer!“

The main school-specific thread has lots of info on this. Hope this helps!

@Goro and @LizzyM over the last decade or so there have been quite a few medical schools that have taken their first class. Amongst those, how do you personally think Carle will perform? It seems as though it has a fair amount of promise.

I think that they'll be fine. There seems to be a lot of angst about new MD or DO programs, and the only justification is that it does take Faculty time to gel around a curriculum.

My only raised eyebrow about Carle is that from my own experience, engineers seem to have trouble adapting to med school.

Why do engineers have trouble adapting? (from old engineer)

I do not have enough information to form an opinion.
