What an awesome time! Much thanks to MilitaryMD for generously shelling out for drinks. It was a surreal experience, especially meeting Noyac unexpectedly. Also got to meet ProRealDoc, dhb, ProfMoriarty, and saw my old interview trail buddy Southpaw.

Too bad JPP couldn't make it...between him, Mil, and Noy, that woulda been the trifecta for me! I'm grabbing some charbroiled oysters and a Patron margarita (rokks/salt) at Drago's in honor of him for lunch today.

Southpaw, don't forget to e-mail me that pic!

Definitely great meeting you all. It was an honor to meet MMD...that dude is just awesome. Pretty epic meeting Noyac as well...probably one of the coolest laid back guys of all time. PRD, dhb, ProfMoriarty, and my old friend Gimlet....what an awesome time. I had a blast! Hope to see you boys again at future meetings.

I'll PM the pic to you boys when I get home...I'm in the NO airport right now. Take care.

I bet you guys had an awesome time.

it was a pleasure meeting everyone...I caught up with Sexpanther at the convention center today.

Southpaw, say hi to charlie and stuart for me....

Too bad Jet couldn't make it....but that's what happens when you get kids...My wife couldn't come because of them.

Thanks again to all the kool kats that showed up. It was nice to finally put a face to all the screen names I see on SDN. MMD, me and the wife appreciated your generosity (drinks) and the great advice! It was a real pleasure to meet all you! Would have loved to meet the entire SDN cast, maybe next time!
👍

Damn, give me a few years of residency and I'll be meeting up for sure guys.

Sounds like a fun time. Also, putting some faces to the names would be cool.

Are you guys all suggesting MilMD's a teady bear at heart!? LOL

Actually, it's nice to see some of the "old" guard staying active. Many of us coming up the pipeline have appreciated the input over the years. It's cool.

Hopefully Mil wont mind me saying that I found him to be an extremely friendly and genuine guy, but also as completely unafraid to "tell it like it is" in real life as he is on these pages.

having been called a lot of different names.....I don't mind being called anything.

One of the issues of forums like these is that you don't see the expressions and the tone of how statements are made.

You just get the type written posts.....and more than half of communication is non-verbal.....

I have little doubt that many of my nemeses on this forum would like me and get along very well with me.

I called prodoc a "******" on this forum on the asapac thread....it sounds bad....but I call many of my friends and partners and surgeons "******s".....and they think it's funny....

and now that prodoc has met me....he knows that "******" is not derogatory....but just my well of disagreeing with him.

I dont get it...everyone here seems to have had a different experience with you in real life then on here. Maybe your not half bad after all:laugh:

Coming to ASRA?

Like I said last night... I used to live in LA (Los Angeles, not Louisiana) and had the typical star-sightings all the time. Meeting you guys was WAY more exciting! Wish I had come earlier but was over exploring the Residency Fair which followed the student HOD.

Hanging out with you guys gave me a real-world perspective I really haven't been able to get, so thanks to you all for that. Now I guess I have to shell out some $ to ASA-PAC or face the MMD smack-down!

This is a great community both on SDN and in person. Very cool meeting you guys.

how about just the price of the drinks I bought you?

Nah Mil, that would be uncouth. The book says you gotta add a little something when you pay it forward. "Which book?" you ask... The unwritten book of the road.

BTW- Taking off tomorrow AM. If anyone wants to grab a last drink tonight, PM me. Otherwise, lemme know if you're ever out in NYC.

I'm at the ASA. What do all you freaks look like? 😛

I agree, it was nice getting meet a few of the SDN crowd. Wish I could have stuck around longer but I had just arrived in town and since N.O. is my old stomping ground I had a few rounds to make.

Mil, sorry I couldn't talk with you more the next day at the conference. The two people I was talking with when you walked up were some of my old partners and we were catching up on some good gossip.

I thought you were a bit distant.

I would have loved to have stuck around. As it was, I ended up being 30min late for our dinner reservation and pissed off my wife. Oh well, can't make everyone happy.

Had I known Mil was buying the drinks I would have stayed longer.😎

But there were some many people I hadn't seen in a very long time.
