Hi All
What do you all think about the new carranza 10th edition for perio????
Is it a lot different from the 8th & 9th edition ???I have the 8th edition with me.Is it worth buying a new 10th edition ??????????

I'm sure it references numerous different bacterilogic species that have been renamed for some arcane reason or another. I'm sure none of this actually impacts the treatment of perio disease but you cannot be a "DOCTOR!!" unless you know 127 different species of bacteria and exactly when (to the exact minute) that they show up after you don't brush.

In other words, you'll probably be fine with the old text.

The real question is when the cliffs notes will be available for it. Mine is 4 inches thick and weighs 10 kilos!

Lots of chapters repeat themselves. Like there are really 5 different ways to explain what the sulcus is...good reference book though.

my favorite part's the chapter on cavitron that rambles on for 15 pages without coming to a conclusion on anything.

i purchased it for an arm and a leg, but it's not worth a pair of smelly worn out socks, and here's why:

1-it is very academic so many of the concepts are not applied clinically and your professor will often tell you "oh the book says this but in clinic it's ..blah blah blah.."
2-flow of information is not well organized; in that department, this book pales next to an awesome book like robbins (our pathology book).
3-in your school, the exam will be from your professor's powerpoints and his explanations of those powerpoints.
4-the book is so heavy and not very reader-friendly, unlike robbins.
5-too expensive for its own good.
