hey guys, i might just be paranoid, but just to make sure...
my offer from Case came in the mail this morning saying my acceptance is contingent on successful completion of my current college program, and that i'll have to submit a transcript prior to registration for first term to show all my academic work and any degrees earned. they don't seem to care about what mark i get for the rest of the year...since there's no mention about achieving a certain gpa average this semester...so can i get Bs and Cs? =]
i've already graduated with a degree last year, but i'm just finishing off a chem and english prereq
thanks!! =)

oh! also on a side note...how is case dental school's reputation overall among all american schools? would you say top third? middle third? i can't seem to find a good ranking system online...? =S

It's generally thought to be understood that you'll need to maintain good grades until you complete school... If they see your GPA suddenly plummet, they may withdraw your acceptance.

that's the thing though...i don't believe my overall gpa would plummet from a C for a half-credit let's say, since i have completed four years of undergrad already? right? have people's offers actually been taken away due to this? i actually think i'll do very poorly in one of my courses this term heh

You obviously can't get lower than a C since you need to credit. But if you were to get C's I am sure you will be fine. That being said..try to get atleast a B.

Congrats on your acceptance, Fraises! May I ask when you interviewed with Case?

I will be interviewing there this week, so any brief bit of info you can share about your interview experience and/or overall impressions of the school would be awesome. Many thanks in advance.

i interviewed on dec. 16 right before the holidays! i thought it was super friendly...much friendlier than my interview experience at UPenn. the interviewers hardly asked me any questions, it was more like an extended 2hr chat about family/school/life/etc. i was asked what i do in my spare time and do i think i have good manual dexterity skills...why dentistry...nothing special or out of the ordinary =] you'll like it! my interviewer even started giving me a tour of her specialty clinic after finishing our 'talk' i guess lol it was so laidback that i'm starting to wonder that maybe they're just trying to assess your personality and see if you'd succeed in a PBL environment....totally my guess though?! anyways, i was so nervous for nothing!
very clean, and very small close-knit community feel if you like that
new simulation labs, ate at the cafeteria in the medicine building just next door (10 second walk) because i don't think the dental building has a fastfood type cafeteria like that.. they give you a voucher for your lunch meal hehe
umm everything will be electronic patient charting by the time we get in i think, and i think my student tourguides were pretty happy about their experience...they like the break PBL gives them in their day of lectures in the classroom...they're also really proud that they start clinical experience in first year but they didn't seem to like the parking situation in the winter though cuz it gets cold walking outside in scrubs lol (if you wanna park for cheap from far away) but yeah! they talked about their scrubs a lot...like how much they like to wear them everyday haha!
good luck 🙂

yeah...it was one hour with one person, then switch to do one more hour with a second person hehe so i guess...9am-10am and then 10am-11am? a little break in the middle for the switchover lol
maybe one person to ask more questions, and one person to judge your general personality? cuz my second interviewer didn't really ask much...

Fraises, thank you SO much! This is super helpful feedback. I'm really looking forward to the interview (even though I'm nervoussss) and seeing Case up close.

Thanks, again. Much appreciated!
