Case question

What state? What part of the “hold” process are we in? How was it determined that there is no mental illness? Tarasoff state? What is prompting the HI with plan?
Patient came in with HI to kill his acquaintance with very detailed plan and kill himself later. Claims to have PPHx of Schizophrenia, but he is well known in the community to not to have the illness and check himself when he wants to. No violent behavior or agitation. Calmly came to ER with a smile to basically "admit me, you don't get to ask questions". After the assessment, while I was on the line with police doing duty to warn, he eloped

Agree with the above. In my state HI without MH problems goes straight to the police. Even if there is HI you can't hold unless the current mental illness is treatable. Meaning if they're stable with HI you follow Tarasoff, inform the police, and let them go.
