I'm having difficult time deciding which school I should attend. Can you give me some advice on this?
What I like about UoP:
- it's in San Francisco. I did my undergrad in Illinois, and man, I really did not enjoy the winter there. Also, I feel like it's time for me to try living in the west coast after having tried the east and midwest.
- 3-year program. I really want to start my own life and become independent from my parents. I gotta start paying them back! it's about time.
- according to SDN, UoP provides great clinical experiences. (however, I heard other things from current dentists. So, I'm little concerned about this. Compared to Case, which is better in this particular aspect?)
- my girlfriend is planning to apply to grad schools. It'd be better for both of us to be as close as possible and Cali has some great grad schools.
What I'm concerned about UoP:
- the cost of the tuition and living expenses in SF are crazy.
- big class size. I'd be fine but I prefer smaller class sizes like Case.
- rigorous curriculum. I'm concerned that I won't have the time to visit my family and friends who mostly live outside the US.
What I like about Case:
- I don't exactly remember everything the students told me during the tour, but I remember thinking that the system and setting of the clinic are very well organized and student-oriented such as students having their own chairs.
- Small class size.
- Lower tuition (compared to UoP)
- Also, strongly clinically oriented.
What I'm concerned about Case:
- Cleveland. I really didn't like the city and the weather.
- the facility seemed ..old.. and a bit worn-out to me.
- part of the curriculum is pbl. i don't know much about it, but is it that ineffective?
Let me know what you guys think!
