Hey all! Does anyone know how the IM programs at Case Western (University Hospital) and UVa are? I've been reading some of the posts that have suggested only "lower" programs have extended invites this far(without Dean's Letters). Does that kinda indicate these programs aren't as strong as other Univ programs?

I wouldn't always listen to what others have to say... Wash U and Duke have both sent out invites, and I wouldn't consider those low tier. Both Case and UVA are good programs. Congrats!

I'd say that they're both good programs, just in less glamorous locations. I wouldn't listen 100% to what other people on this forum say are "low tier" programs, I suspect there's an element of sour grapes in some of those messages.

I say this as someone who only has one invite so far (to his own home institution). Personally, I'd be ecstatic to have more interviews at these "low tier" (not my opinion) programs.

Both are good programs. SDN rankings tend to say both are on the low of end of top tier.

Are you serious? Charlottesville's been rated one of the best cities to live in the U.S. on multiple occasions. It's just small. Cleveland, on the other hand...

Haha, actually, check out #7: http://greatist.com/health/best-cities-for-twenties/

Not disputing that Charlottesville is a great place to live, I just don't think cities like Cleveland and Charlottesville carry the allure of, say, NY, Boston, or SF.

Case Western is a fantastic program. Dr. Armitage, the program director, is a gentleman and a scholar and a true asset to the program.
