Case Western Reserve interview
Started by sbhatt87
I just got a letter on Jul. 27th for an interview at case. I'm going on August. 27th for the interview. Any tips? Is case very competitive compared to other schools and is it a good sign they have gotten back to me this early?
What's so good about Case dental school? Anybody want to elaborate?

hey man i just got a letter today. where exactly are you gonna stay and stuff?
got letter today for an interview. woohooo. Anyone know what dates are earliest?
Earliest date was sometime last week of August, but when I called mostly everything was booked up until September 14th, and that was a few days ago.
Hey does anyone remember what days they said were available for interviews? i.e. Mon-Fri?? I originally scheduled for a Wednesday, but want to reschedule for a later Friday date in order to make it coincide during the same week I have another interview. Thanks for the help! 😀

np! thanks =D goood luck with coordinating your interviews =D
i am buying my tickets tomorrow. =\
Just an idea, I have my interview next Friday and I am flying in to Akron, which is only 33 miles from the school. My flight and rental car were both a lot cheaper than flying into Cleveland. I am going the day before though, so I have plenty of time to drive in. So if your looking to save some cash you may want to look into it. I'll let you know how it goes.

anyone else goin on this day too?!
How long was it after Case cashed your check that you got an interview? (Asking anyone who got an interview) They cashed mine on August 7th...
Check cashed: 7/20
snail mail saying file is complete dated 7/23
Interview invite received by snail mail on 8/10 (Dated 8/6)

Where did you search for tickets?
I tried expedia and kayak.com. flight Seattle - Akron. Cheapest tickets were still more expensive than what I paid going Seattle - Cleveland.
BTW.
I am interviewing Sept 10 and staying at the frat. Anyone on the same date?

Hey guys, here is some info. I need help in figuring out the transportation to and from the hotel, airport and school
Both within walking distance to school, but too expensive
Baricelli Inn: $150
Glidden House: $139
Frat house: $50
Was nervous about living conditions but I called them and they said it is a separate bedroom and bathroom. It is half a mile from the campus.
Two problems:
- Not sure how transportation goes from: Airport--> frat house--> airport. Just taxis? That would be expensive (25 both ways)
- Transportation from frat--> school--> frat. I know it is only half a mile away. But, wearing a business outfit and cold weather is not going to fly =\
Hampton Inn: $84
Is in downtown (Approx 4 miles from the school). However, there is no shuttle to and from the school.
Double tree: $89
Is in downtown (5 miles from school). There IS a shuttle to and from the school. How do I get to and from the airport though??? The packet says that you can take the RTA rapid transit (train?) from airport to campus -- not a hotel? ****THIS is what i am mainly confused about. I am coming in on a Sunday--- do they RUN on these days? or run on fewer times? Should I just close my eyes and give the taxi cab people my money? haha.
Sorry I sound so confused. The whole is it worth staying far away and paying more (but KNOWing i have transportation to the school) sounds better one second and =\ the next.
Thanks =D

I know exactly how you feel, Cleveland was the most confusing place, thats why I just bagged it all and rented a car.
my suggestion is land at akron, rent a car, get a room in a motel 6 or smthn, im SURE theres one within a 10 mile radius of the school. the whole deal will be cheaper than jus landing in cleveland. i looked into it, and for me, landing at and leaving from cleveland with the times i wanted came out to be around $400 just for the flight tix. then i looked into akron - its about 240 including all fees and taxes, 50 bucks for a rental car (underage fee included) and i believe $36.99 for motel6. sounds like a sweeet deal to me

i think I had seen this post before -- and I checked out Akron but I got the best deal (240) from houston--cleveland.
Even though I could get a rental car to avoid all this confusion, I would rather not. I just got into a car accident and my car got totaled. SOOOO, definitely still have a phobia of driving (that too in unknown places that MAY have icy roads).
That being said, I am trying to get hold of one of the ladies in Doubletree and see if she can give me more useful advice. =D I will let yall know.
In the mean time, if anyone gets an interview on October 12th, let me knoooow!!! We could think of splitting a room (if it is the double tree =\) and/or the taxi fare =D
Em.. My flights for November to cleveland are a lot cheaper:
Dates: November 19 at Dental School; November 20 at Medical School.

Has anyone heard of University Hotel and Suites. Supposedly it is only 2.67 miles away from Case Western and they provide a shuttle to the school. If you go on priceline.com, it's only 60 dollars a night. It's downtown and close to a lot of Cleveland attractions, but some reviews say the neighborhood is a little sketchy and the hotel isn't exactly a 4 star hotel. Any input on this deal for a one night stay??
I interviewed at Case on August 17th staying at a friend's apartment in Cleveland. I posted interview feedback ("8/18/09..."). The setting was casual and it appears they only have three interviewees per session. Approximately two blind, forty-five minute interviews: one with an individual faculty or researcher and one with David Dalsky. Case had average facilities, great simulation equipment and competitive National Board scores, but it comes at a price. Applicants with 3.5+ GPAs and 20+ DATs will be automatically considered for merit scholarships ranging from $1,000-10,000. Most of the students I spoke to were pursuing military scholarships.

I stayed there this last Thursday night and you're right, it is a little bit rough looking, but the room was great, and the people were nice. I didn't use the shuttle, but I did see that there was a sign up for it at the desk. I would stay there again.
Just got a rejection from this school yesterday...1 down 15 to go lol.
kallie902, that is exciting! i'm just coming from bowling green, oh. i don't even think i'll be staying overnight but we'll see! where are you from??
Anyone going there on September 10th?
Also, if anyone stayed there in the Delta Delta Sigma co-ed, share your experiences please🙂

I had an interview today (September 10) but I am stuck in Denver waiting for lay over flight. I will post later in feedback. For now I will say it was VERY laid back.
Yea, I liked Case in every aspect besides the 80k approximate attendance cost per year and the area of Cleveland.
my feedback is up. Check it out (9-10-09)
