Hey all,

Just thought this was kind of interesting and maybe we can have some fun speculating. First off, did anyone else get an automated email from Case Western University SDM just thanking us for applying and gave information on the application fee and was sent a student handbook? I received this in my email this morning. I think this is just an automated mass message to the applicants.

The interesting thing is that even though my application has been submitted to AADSAS, I am still waiting for my transcript to get processed, and mailed out. I did send them their application fee through snail mail but all I wrote on the check was my name and AADSAS number. I am just wondering now with the age of computers, do you think schools already have access to some preliminary information before our verified applications are mailed out? I think maybe AADSAS gives school's access to our non verified application to at least get our address, emails, phone numbers, maybe even other information!

What do you all think? Not that this really matters or is important, or that I even care, but if anyone has some info, would be interesting!

The dates often don't line up the way you'd think. Last year I received a bunch of application received emails before the supposed mailing date on AADSAS.

I received case western email today... but I haven't event esubmitted my application. I plan to later today.

they were probably creeping on your FB and saw that comment you made about applying to DS.

I was wondering the same thing today. I received the email today as well. I also received an email from AADSAS saying my GPA was verified so maybe they sent the application electronically today?

I think C/W got the e-mail list from AADSAS, but probably only for all those who already paid the AADSAS fee.

I got the email too, and i haven't even e-submitted yet

This is the first year everything is paperless. I'm sure they're not forcing all schools to go paperless, but perhaps they've spruced up the back end and added some functions that let schools do a little more.

yea i got it yesterday morning too and submitted the night before, but my transcripts arent processed yet only received

I havent heard anything from them and my app was processed early this week. I dont mean to sound super-anxious or anything, but what does that mean?? 😕

Did you apply to C/W??

I e-submitted on the 15th and got an email from UNC on the 17th. Part of the email said "The UNC School of Dentistry admission office has been informed by AADSAS that your application is being processed and verified." I'm guessing all of the schools you applied to were informed you applied before actually receiving your application.

I havent got anything yet either...

i guess its good to know that not everyone has received this email..i dont know what that means, though. it's definitely a bit frustrating!

No, Penn said they really liked my references (how do they even have them??) and I should fill out their supplemental asap.

I got it too and it was really weird because I'd just C/W to my designations earlier in the day! i think it might be from the DAT if you signed up after a certain date or something. just a guess. i put that i could get recruiting emails.

Just got another e-mail from Case Western, saying that my AADSAS application was "received". They're probably sent out by AADSAS electronically, hey? On AADSAS the mailing date still says 6/27. 👍

I guess apps were sent electronically today as I got that email as well as another email from a school that says they have received my AADSAS application.

funny, i got the email from case 8 days ago. 6/16. i figured everyone got it.

Some schools have gone paperless. This is the first year AADSAS can completely operate paperlessly. I'm guessing some schools still like a huge mass of paper, but I can't imagine why. Perhaps this 'mailing date' is more of a legacy term. While AADSAS may not have released a full batch of complete/verified applications until now, I'd have to assume that since this is all done electronically, schools just might have limited access to those people who have applied (paid) to facilitate the way the school wants to handle their application process (like a generic contact list).

I'll have to find them again, but there are a few training files that show how it all works. It has screenshots of the clients the schools use to see your application. It's kind of interesting to see what they see and how they release your file for people to review and add notes. Those who adopt paperless do away with the need for file folders. That's going make things faster for everyone.
