It seemed like from NRMP that about 20% of the spots in rads were catagorical, does that mean they are 1 year shorter or you just do IM/Surg there at that place? Are these harder to get?

you do your internship at that program or with an associated one.

people choose based on the radiology program, not the internship, but perhaps not having to move an extra time would put a categorical program ahead if all other things were equal. otherwise, they're not more competitive, especially since most (or none??) of the tops programs are not categorical.
