Hi Everyone,

I have a dilemma: I'm thinking about interviewing at this program, but it operates under strict Catholic principles - no tubals, no abortions, no vasectomies, and no pills, IUDs, etc. I have nothing against Catholic principles, however, I have worked under them before and have found them frustrating at times because I personally do not believe in these principles.

Should I go on this interview anyway just to check out the program and get some interview practice? Or should I just forgo my spot and save a little money and maybe give another person a chance?

Just a little background: I'm currently at an osteopathic program but am only applying to allopathic programs. I currently have 12 interviews scheduled ... this would be #13. I think I have a decent application for the type of program I'd like to enter: smaller, community-based/university affiliated program in a major city.

Thanks for all your help in advance!

Me neither. You don't want to graduate residency not feeling well practiced in some of the basic aspects of OB/GYN.

Before deciding "no" on the institution, find out if they have a system to allow the residents to learn and participate in the areas you mentioned. For example, the residents in our sister program (Jesuit school) would have the opportunity to learn about/perform terminations, family planning (including tubal sterilizations) with us or at their other rotating facility.

Good luck!
