Diagnostics are worthless. Don't be worried at all, in fact a 27 on a diag is optimistic if anything.

That's what I'm saying. I've been taking practice tests, my first was a 35 and its went all the way up to a 41, definitely note the things you make mistakes on and go back and study those things, you'll definitely see a pattern, I know I have.

I got a 26 on my first ever practice test. Ended up improving to 35/36 on my final few practice tests. On the real thing I got a 29 first time and 35 second time. Bottom line, a 27 on your first practice test is good, just don't get cocky. Study hard and keep improving.

Take it as a confidence boost, but not as a reason to study any less than you would had the score been lower. I know a guy who got a 30 on his diagnostic, procrastinated studying, and was eventually stuck with the 26 on the real thing. Work hard, keep your cool, and you should do well.

It is definitely optimistic, but don't let it trick you into thinking it is easy and no studying is needed. The test day is totally different; you are in a foreign room and under a lot more stress. All the preparation you can get will be very beneficial. Let it boost your motivation for studying so when you actually take the MCAT, you will do great.
