hi I am about to take an exam on cavity prep for my 2nd year of dentistry course. It is taken on a phantom head in a practice lab. I have taken a radiograph of it and I'm unsure if it reaches the pulp or not. This is important because if it doesnt reach the pulp and I then go and expose it, I fail the exam. My teacher said it would have reached the pulp but I'm not so sure - to me it looks like the pulp has receded to shield it from the caries..take a look, thanks.

Remember caries extends more than is apparent on a radiograph. At this point, RCT is pretty much inevitable.

I wouldn't go chasing this in one of my patients.

definitely RCT. you can see the decay encroaching on the pulp horns.
