I guess the rumors are true... The MCAT administration is fully transitioning to CBT in January 2007. Although I am not sure I am exactly happy about the change, offering the test 22 times a year is a nice number 🙂

I've been studying for the MCAT now (because I'll get really busy later) - I was wondering if anyone here has taken the August CBT (or before) and if it was much different from taking the paper-based exam? Also is there much difference in preparation?

The only thing that could make the test even worse is if the computer-based MCAT was computer-adaptive where the difficulty of the questions change depending on how well you are doing (like the GRE) - can imagine that? I'd go nuts.

any thoughts? advice from those who took CBT?

Thanks ahead of time 😀 Good luck to all whereever they are in their path to going to med school 🙂 :luck:

besides the obvious....it's been a long time and the last MCAT I took was paper-based. I just wanted to get an idea of how people felt during the CBT.

Won't be computer-adaptive. Take the GMAT if you want that experience.

You'll also only be dealing with maybe 30 people testing with you as opposed to hundreds of stressed-out college students. The administrative time will be much shorter if you can imagine.

Even though are 22 times to write it, I personally have the oddest feeling that there will be a lot of people that dont get the times they want due to lack of space and such. So there will be a few disappointed people with their times/location. It only works if everyone is spread out uniformly over all the time slots. Thats just my feeling, especially in cities without too many thompson or whatever they use for CBT testing. The one in my city was held in a Sylvan learning center(held about 30 ppl) 😱

Thats just my 2 cents though.
