i would like to know whats the difference between these 2 tests. these tests can be downloaded from usmle.org and both have 3 blocks of 48 questions each.

also what is the percentage on either of these exams that is equivalent to a 237/99 on the real deal

i have not done neuro and behavioral for quiet some time now. i took free 150 questions today and i found out that i was scoring a 68%, 58% and 48% in blocks as i progressed and scored 67% in audio/video. now i am not taking the exam in near future but i will want to score a 250 in next 3 weeks of prep. any advice how i can do it. major thing i found lacking in me was management of time. i freeked out with time and marked some questions randomly to finish the block and ended up scoring less. i am have done UW subject wise along with FA except for biostats and neuro. first-- do you think it is possible for me to get a score of 250 in next 3 weeks. 2nd- how should i proceed.
thanks

If your average for the blocks is a 58% (68, 58, 48%) then it is estimated by medfriends.org that you would get a 177 which is a failing score. I would highly recommend you buy one of the $45 NBME exams and see how you score on that. Those are usually a good indication of how you will do.

It is concerning to me that your scores progressively went down significantly. That was only 3 blocks as well. Test day is 8 blocks. Was fatigue a factor for the 2nd and 3rd blocks?

Unless I have misunderstood your post, I do not think it is possible for you to get to a 250. It sounds like you are well into your studying. Since you have already started studying, to be able to get to the 250 mark you would need to be scoring much higher than you currently are. You just can't make up 70+ points in 3 weeks.

On the free150, you need to get 79% right to get a 237 and 85.3% right to get a 250. 58% is a far cry from that. At this point, you should take an NBME to see if the free 150 was a fluke or not. If it was not a fluke, you need to set your sights on something more realistic.

well i woke up at 4am the day i took the exam. i slep the night before for 5 hours. i studied till noon that day and suddenly decided to take the practice test. while taking the test i realized that i was missing on time on the first block itself and i didnt think of answers as i marked them. it went on till the second block till i reached the mid part of second block. after that i just wanted to end the test so i started to hurry and mark the answers.
though i have not done neuro and biostats till now. but with others i have gone through UW once (apart from biostats and neuro) and doing first reading of first aid.
i dont know if i am in bad shape or simply i freeked out during the test. but i really worry

Well there are a few things that can predict your score:

1) the free 150- you already did this

2) You percentage on USMLE world. Most recommend doing it in random, timed mode for the best predictor. How did you do them- random or by subject (if by subject was it right after you had read the section)? Timed, Untimed or Tutor?

What was your percentage correct on your first time through the questions?

3) NBMEs- might as well do one of these for peice of mind. It will really give you a definitive answer as to how you are doing.

well i did UW subject wise and did it after reading the topics from FA. for example. i read entire pharm once and did UW questions and scored around 65 to 70% on each subject. that means that i read pharm, path (from goljan-not yet from FA), physio (from kaplan), biochem and then took the exam.
right now i am giving a second read to the subjects i completed. but still i have not worked on biostats, neurology as a whole subject. and i have only done till endocrinology (which is the 2nd chapter in organ system from FA).
so i thought of just taking the test.
when i found out questions from neuro and some easy questions from anatomy that i missed i didnt feel well about taking the test and crashed with a sad score.
i redid biochemistry UW questions from UW and almost answered 85% in the second go. today i plan on pharm and some GI from FA.
just wanted to add up. i used to do wikitestprep and scored around 60% on an average but lately ( past 15days) i had been scoring a 75% on average, timed and is an estimate of 224 on the real deal.
Do you think that i am on the right track?
by the way thanks a lot for your time.
i appretiate it
