So I am towards the very end of my stay at CC and I want to know if anyone else SUCCESSFULLY did this or has any input:

Take 1st year of Chem & Bio at CC.
Transfer.
Take O Chem, and other Biology courses at the 4 year but also take other upper division Chem and Bio to make up for 2 Semester Chem and 3 semester Bio requirement.

My biggest worry is waiting until I transfer to take everything and being a little more underprepared when I plan on taking the DAT and possibly losing the option to apply a bit earlier at my top choices which are in California -- UoP is my top choice. 😍 The other top choices I have are BostonU, Tufts, and maybe UConn which are near my husband's family--I have a good support system over there.

I have been also thinking about changing my major to a science major so I can take these courses without having to worry too much about an lib arts major holding me back. I will definitely minor-- Spanish or Women/Gender Studies.

Thanks everyone 🙂

Just so you're not surprised later, both Tufts and BU have strong policies about CC credits.

Here's what Tufts has on their website:
Q. I have completed some of the Tufts pre-requisite courses at a Community College. Will these credits fulfill your requirements?

A. Unfortunately, all pre-requisite coursework must be completed at an accredited 4 year college or university. Applicants who have received community college credits must either retake those courses at a four year institution or take an equal number of credits in upper level coursework in the same discipline at a four year institution.

And Boston:
Up to 30 credits of community college work will be accepted, but community college coursework may not be applied to science prerequisites (biology, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, physics).
Advanced Placement credit is not accepted toward the science prerequisites. Applicants who received college credit and/or placed out of pre-requisite courses because of AP credits must either retake those courses at an accredited four-year United States or Canadian institution or take an equal number of credits in upper level coursework in the same discipline at a four year institution.

Thanks for your reply. So judging by that info, I should be okay as long as I make up the 2 Semesters of Chemistry courses and the 2 semesters of Biology courses with other ones @ the 4 year. Time to do some more thinking and researching... I just realized UConn takes mostly New England and Connecticut students. ARGH.
