The lady on the phone when I called said they sent out "a lot" of alternate list letters.

I received a phone call from Dr. Franco a few days ago, informing me that I was being accepted off the waitlist. Needless to say, I am still in a state of shock-- of all my waitlisted schools, this was probably the last one I would have expected to get off of given the tiny class size and the caliber of the program.

Anyways, I just wanted to let you all know that the waitlist is indeed moving. Good luck, I hope that everyone here gets in where they want to go. 👍

Between Mister Pie and Custard I am in the mood for some dessert

Congrats though!

I called CCLCM and Franco said have some hope for this year there is a chance. When adcom people are cautiously optimistic like that, it must be good news rite? More often than not I feel like they are more neutral.

I also got a phone call from Dr. Franco last week. So excited!!! Good luck to everyone still waiting. Mister Pie, see you in July...

Good news, class of 2013--CCLCM is officially a tuition-free school as of this summer. The announcement was made today, and here is the email we got from the administration:

I am pleased to announce that the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University is providing all its students with full tuition scholarships, beginning with this July’s incoming class.

Students currently enrolled in the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine will receive additional scholarship funding to offset 50% of the difference between past tuition paid and the financial aid they’ve already received.

Cleveland Clinic will support the full tuition scholarships through existing endowment income and clinical operations. The long-term goal is to fund the scholarships entirely through endowment income.

Training the newest generation of physician scientists is an important aspect of Cleveland Clinic’s mission and enhances our long-term ability to provide patients with state-of-the-art healthcare.

By providing full tuition support, we will ensure that debt does not hinder the ability of bright and talented individuals to pursue a career in academic medicine. It is an investment in our future and the future of medicine.

Congrats to you all!

Congrats to you all!

That is stunning and wonderful. Hopefully, it will affect med schools in the same way that Princeton affected undergrad, and other schools will follow suit. Wow!

It sounds like some of them are, based on what a few people have said in the other thread and what the newspaper articles said. I agree that it would be an awesome trend for other schools to follow!
