Anyone heard from CCOM yet? I submitted my secondary over 2 weeks ago and haven't heard a word from them. It looks like nobody else on here has heard from them either...

I read somewhere that you're supposed to be able to check the status of your application on their website. But they have never provided instructions for doing this. Does anyone know how to check? 🙁

Home --> click on "interact now" in the bottom left corner. I think you will have to create an account with your AACOMAS email address and make a password and then it will show the info. Might want to check any emails from them, too...might have further instructions. The status page will only show that they have received your primary, secondary, and LORs--it doesn't say anything about interviews (I know because I got an interview at AZCOM and there is no mention of it on the status page).

About CCOM...I haven't heard anything yet and I was complete 8/3. I'm expecting they'll start giving interviews away pretty quickly. I hope so anyway! 🙂

I think last year they started inviting for interviewiews some time in September. I went to their first interview which I believe was 10/4. Just be patient and give them time. Last year they sent us a letter with instructions to schedule interview on-line.

thanks for the info okayplayer. By the way, where else are you applying?

Hey.

I set this up: User #3547 profile - MDApplicants.com. Not too impressive, but what can you do. So far I have interviews at AZCOM and DMU and am waiting on OSU and CCOM on the DO side and a **** load of other schools on the MD side of things. I may have gone a little over board on the applications, but I'd love to be able to get an acceptance at a few DO and at least one MD schools so that way I can see the schools first hand and compare/contrast in person.

Hey okayplayer, checked out mdapp.com, why d you apply to SUNY, you are from WA, no? Anyways, i saw you verified your primaried really early, i did too but didnt find that it helped, for amcas, at least. they claimed not to send out anyones inof until mid july.

Yeah, I'm from Washington, but I really have no strong regional preference as far as going to medical school. The reasons I applied to the MD schools that I did is because they were the ones that interviewed a decently high number of out-of-state students (usually >12% of o.o.s. applicants) and had gpa/mcat averages close to mine. So pretty much all of the SUNYs fit that description. Some (like SUNY-Upstate) even claim to give no preference whatsoever to NY residents. But the kicker--and the real reason I applied to all of them--is that you qualify for in-state tuition after the first year, which could save $80,000 or more.

You're right about AMCAS, they really sort of screwed us over. Basically if I would have applied perhaps a week earlier I would have been in the first batch, but as it was I got lumped in with a lot of people who applied later. My strategy was to try to compensate for my weak numbers by applying early and to a wide range of schools. We'll see if it works out for me at all. If not, I have no qualms whatsoever about going to any of the 4 DO schools I applied to. It's really a win-win in my eyes.

A D.O. applicant friend of mine, who just recently visited the school, said they only had two people in the admissions department handling all the apps--that could explain some things.
