CCOM Tech suggestions

I'm going to be buying a new laptop and tablet as an incoming OMS1 at CCOM this July - are there any suggestions on what tablets/laptops to purchase? I didn't see any minimum requirements on their website and would love some help on this topic. The number of choices out there are absolutely daunting.

i had a hp tablet my first year - barely used it cause the battery life sucked
got a mac air my second year and used it all the time - loved it. good battery life and easy to use.
a lot of people also used iPads at least in my class.
i have heard some people in other classes using surface etc but have no experience with that.

you just need something with internet access and preferably firefox since safari can be a bit buggy sometimes with some of the programs we use. but you can download firefox on anything. other than that something with good battery life is a must because there are very limited outlets in the lecture halls.
