I have been accepted several schools both Allopathic and Osteopathic and have narrowed it down to a few but am having trouble making a final decision. I have opted to go to Osteopathic over Allopathic do not what to spark anything. I just seem to like osteopathy better. I would like help with choosing between CCOM and LECOM Bradenton. Both schools are so different and so great in their own way.

Any Comments would help. 🙂

I have heard from people who have visited LECOM Bradenton, that it is an exceptional DO program and that faculty are very open and students are happy and successful. Hope that helps. Good luck

I think the answer depends on a couple things. One is what you think you would like to do in the future. If you want to do primary care, where you go to school will have little effect on your future. CCOM is a very established program, one of the oldest DO schools in the country. It is a known quantity - graduates have placed into good residencies in all specialties. In addition, CCOM has the benefit of being near/in a large urban area - if that is something that is attractive to you.
LECOM-Bradenton's benefits include the PBL curriculum, if that is something that's attractive to you, and a warm, sunny location. Being new, however, the success of graduates is not known - one could look at LECOM-Erie for history, but one does not know if it will be the same. Again, if you are interested in primary care, the difference would be negligible.
I chose LECOM-Bradenton for the reasons of PBL and location. I am happy, but sometimes wish my future opportunities were more certain.

yo i had a thread on a similar topic of western vs. lecom-bradenton; u might want to check it out:

I chose LECOM-Bradenton finally because I liked the PBL and warm weather. A good reputation is good but also it gives rise to an inherently more competitive class who compete with you for the same things at the same places. So, it might get your foot in the door, but you will have to make it on your own no matter where you go. You should just choose the one you feel more comfortable at. Oh yeah, you should make your decision soon, cuz I know a lot of people who are Alternates at LECOM-Bradenton who will be more than happy to go there!
