Hi everyone! I have two DO acceptances rn, RVUCOM in Colorado and CCOM in Chicago. I interviewed at 4 MD schools so I am waiting to hear back from them, but both schools require a deposit in March, so I am hoping to narrow it down to one of them in case I don't get into an MD school. I really don't know much about either school so I am hoping someone would give me some guidance on this. I know that CCOM is super expensive (83K) vs RVUCOM (62k), but other than that, I am not sure which is better for residency match and overall reputation/student experience.

Tell us more about you. What matters to you? What are you looking to match into? Most of the time DO schools are viewed basically the same by residency programs, so there is almost never prestige attached to schools.

In the same boat as you!
Accepted to both RVUCOM and CCOM, but I've been waitlisted at one of my MD interviews and just had another MD interview today.
My decision between RVUCOM and CCOM is split. Is CCOM a slightly better program? And if it is, is it so much better that it warrants the higher tuition I would be paying? I'm leaning RVUCOM just because Denver is one of my favorite places, and I would be happy living there!

Also, from my research, they both match really well, with RVUCOM having slightly higher match rates into competitive specialities. Also CCOM tends to match very regionally, while RVUCOM matches all over the country, so it may depend on what region you want to practice in.

my only rebuttal to the reginal aspect of the CCOM match is that a large chunk of the CCOM class is from Chicago or the surrounding area and they really want to stay there. My classmates and I get interviews all across the country, but most people don't want to leave.

Ah yes! A great point that paints the data in a different light. Thank you

I guess having the chance at a competitive residency and getting research opportunities
