Took CCS today and had a question that has been bothering me since I finished the exam. While preparing using USMLEworld it would indicate you need to order the appropriate procedure (i.e. nephrectomy) when indicated and whenever you ordered a consult it would always be the same on USMLEworld. I was lucky enough to have RCC on the exam today and when I ordered the surgery consult it actually said something to the effect of "patient will be scheduled for surgery..." and the final orders screen popped up early. I was a little surprised but felt that I had done everything appropriately and did not actually write for "nephrectomy."

I had another case of cholecystitis and again the surgery consult said "patient will be scheduled for surgery once stable." Again based on the wording of the consult I never wrote for the actual "cholecystectomy."

When I got home I looked at USMLEworld again and in the scoring tab under the suboptimal heading was failure to order the given procedures. Now I'm concerned I may have not done as well as I initially thought. Anyone able to she'd some light on this concern? Appreciate your help.

i had the same chole question and the same thing happened to me... i have no idea what it means, but i'm hoping we both got it right - i don't know what else i could have done.

did your case scenarios end - super quick? each one of mine ended in about 5 minutes. i don't know if that means i did everything right, or if i'm missing a bunch of eval/work up.
