Wanted to create a thread for the CDC EIS 2026 cohort.. I hope this was the correct thread to create a discussion.. also wanted to wish everyone luck regarding those who submitted! I also wonder how may applicants are normally accepted for the cohort. I understand July 30th? is the deadline after 5 PM

Thank you!

Sorry, the public health forum has been pretty slow since all the upheaval started.

Have you been able to connect with any other applicants?

Have you been able to connect with any current or previous EIS Fellows?

Hello! Haven't connected [emoji53] with any applications till today I believe

Ahh yes! Thank you fir sharing yes! I saw on their website August-September they review applications perhaps late September to early October we may receive the update.

Good morning🙂 so there has been an update and I was emailed and this is what was said.

Dear Ryan Persaud,

Thank you for submitting an Epidemic Intelligence Service application. Your application is complete and eligible, and it will be reviewed. You will receive notification about virtual interviews (invited/not invited) by late October. Virtual interviews will take place in late October/early November.

We are writing to inform you that we will not be able to accept any applicants for the EIS class of 2026 who are not U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents. We hope to resume accepting international applicants for the EIS class of 2027.

Oh no sorry to hear so if your not a U.S. citizen or Resident you will not be accepted?

Sorry to hear it, hopefully you can next year.

Hmm haven't heard anything as of yet.. has anyone else heard anything? I think starting next week and moving forward maybe we will start hearing updates/ or getting invites.

There is also talk of a government shutdown but I dont know if that affects application reviews/invites? Idk ._.

I assumed so hopefully, clarity may be provided in the coming days

Well I have been updated, and unfortunately I was not invited for an interview. But hopefully you all will receive great news!

Sorry to hear it. Hopefully next year will be better. Anyone receive interview invite?
Hey there - yes I received an invitation to interview on Wednesday (didn't last year for what it's worth). It can't be scheduled yet though due to the appropriations lapse. I can't find much about the interview structure anywhere but hopefully the Q&A (whenever they can actually have it) will help?

I have received an email, waitlisted. Does anyone know the likelihood of being accepted into the program after being waitlisted?

Congrats to all and see you at Q and A Monday!!

I think if you sign up for prematch from the wait-list and match with one it's an automatic acceptance. I'm sure they'll say more on this Monday. Otherwise chances this year *might* be better than previous years just because it seems like there's people who might not be as willing to take the risk of federal government at the moment, but this is totally conjecture.
