I just found out that I got accepted for a 6-week CDC elective starting in October. I'm really happy about it. I will be working in the division of HIV/AIDS prevention.

I was wondering if there are others on the forum who did this previously and what advice about the experience.

That sounds awesome. How are you enjoying it so far? And how do you go about applying for an away rotation at the CDC? Are you interested in ID as a specialty? Sorry for the barrage of questions! Thanks :)

http://www.cdc.gov/epielective/ This is the elective. There is also a one-year fellowship for med or vet students if you're interested.

at the time that I applied I hadn't decided my specialty but now I have and I don't plan to do ID. That's actually a misconception that the CDC is all ID specialists. There is a lot of work on chronic diseases as well.
