B is indeed wrong.

The incline shown on the right in B will indeed be black. However, the 2 "steps" will be white as you see 2 white squares attached to the black strip in the unfolded portion.. The top will be white, and a portion of the shape above the black incline will be white as well.

Also, the first block on the right face of the figure should be black as shown in A and D, eliminating B and C.

Hope that helps.

Re-read my explanation and in case it's a bit confusing.

I circled the bottom step that needs to match in pink (present in A and D, easier to show in D). In green you'll see the 2 white parts that should present in the figure, I circled the correct sequence in unfolded versus the incorrect appearance in the answer.

I appreciate the effort but I just don't see it. Also, sorry the image is so small.

I cannot see it, sheesh..

If you're really having trouble, print it out and have a little arts and crafts section to convince yourself ^.^

Here, I'll try it one more time.

First, we know the first step on the incline is going to be black. I highlighted it in blue. (You can eliminate B and C right here if you recognize this.) You can then eliminate D because the back face has to be white, indicated in pink.

To answer your question as to why B is wrong, check the circles I highlighted in green.
