So the last 4 CDP I have taken have been 20/20/23/20. I know overall that my scores are fairly consistant. I am worried though because some of the break downs are all over the place.

For example the test I got a 23 I took yesterday and it was the same difficulty as most of the other test I have taken. I have been getting better at TFE and angles which are my weakness.

Today I took one and got a 20 and felt like it was so much harder in cube counting, hole punch and pattern folding. The hole punches were 4 or 5 folds all with diagonals and several that had half hole punches in the middle of the unfolding, so It was hard for me to figure out and time consuming. Then cube counting was not hard it was just that every figure had like TONS of cubes, like all the answers were in the teens of sides painted. so that was time consuming. Then I was running out of time for pattern folding and there was only ONE pattern that was not shaded. All the other ones had shades, arrows, lines ect.

My concern is should I be worried about being inconsistent in the individual section even though my overall average is fairly constant? Would it be safe to say if I am get a 20-23 on the rest of the CDP test I should be able to manage a 20+ on the real thing?

I don't know the answer to your question because i haven't taken the DAT yet, but i feel that way too! some of the pattern folding sections are a lot harder like they have more shading ones. i've also noticed hole punch varying as well. To me cubes are always the same, but i don't really keep track of time in that section so maybe some take longer than others.
i would think that if your overall score is fairly consistent you're in great shape to get 20+!

Yes. The DAT perceptual ability is much easier overall than Crack -- (keyhole is much harder on the real DAT though) I averaged about a 21 on Crack PAT and scored a 24 on the DAT. Make sure you master hole-punching and cube counting.

I was really bad at hole-punching at first, but after enough practice with Crack, it finally clicked and it became second nature. If hole-punching is not easy for you right now, I strongly suggest practicing it extensively until it is.

I probably can't give advice on how to improve as well as others have on SDN or youtube, but the only two things you have to do are realize when a hole is 'true' and 'reflect' the holes with every unfold.-- like I said- hard to put in to words. Half-holes seem really difficult, but they are not bad either after enough practice.-- Just treat it like a normal hole (which it will become after it is 'reflected) -Sorry, that mumbo-jumbo of a paragraph probably doesn't help. lol JUST PRACTICE
