CDP Test 1 Help Needed

Hi guys. I have gone over the first CDP test that I did and I have questions about 4 problems in that test. Here they are:

1. In the question below: I understand why A,B, and D don't work. I also understand why C is the correct answer. My question here is: how come E is not the right answer? Is this because the distance from that angle where a triangle meets the rectangle is smaller in the image rather than an answer choice?

2. I understand why A,C, and D are not the correct answers. I understand how answer E is the correct answer. My question is: Why B can't work? I did problems before for keyholes in which an outline of the shape was sufficient enough or an answer but here it is not. What are your thoughts? Again, I understand how E IS the answer, just need clarification on why B can't work.

3. I cannot find the 6th cube that has three sides painted. The ones that I marked in red are the ones that I found...Please help me find the 6th one...

4. And one last question...same as the previous one..I cannot find the 4th cube that has 4 sides painted...

1. The bottom left and bottom right sides of the image are not level (the left side is higher than the right). Choice E shows both bottom corners as being level and is thus incorrect.

2. In keyholes, outlines are not enough.. The image must fit through perfectly. Since B does not show a slit in the middle of the incline, it is incorrect.

3 + 4. This is a little tough. We cannot assume that there are two blocks hidden behind the front wall. The only time you can assume the presence of unseen cubes is when they are supporting cubes that you can see. So for the 3 sides, you are correct with the 3 you marked on the left and the one you marked on the upper right. The other two 3 sided cubes are on the right column in rows two and three (from the front) giving us a total of 6.

The ground level cube you marked on the upper left actually has 4 sides, thus your 4th cube!

I am writing from my phone so if this explanation was difficult to follow, let me know. Either way, the solutions section in CDP should be able to clarify the cube-counting problem at the very least. Good luck!

Thanks a lot for your explanations! They were very helpful. I was not aware that we cannot assume there are cubes there unless they are supporting cubes...Well..I know it now 🙂
