Crack DAT PAT question. Is the explanation wrong on this question?

Haha this is question #9 from Test 1 isn't it? I did it last night, buddy. I got the question right, but I think it was due to luck.

I think my reasoning for not picking E was because the edges were lined up too perfectly. It just seems like something from the edges would be off and not aligned up too perfectly and C seemed like a more plausible and safe answer considering the view in C would fit.

Okay man i feel you, for this type of figure you have to look at it from the top, you will see C very fast, i picked E, i some how dont get what the F*** they want with these questions, should the figures(A,B,C,D,E) they give us go through the question diagram or what, should it go on top, side, the way i look at it is like sex, many positions u know!!
But ya these type of questions are messed up

Yes, but if C is the correct answer and the explanation shows that smaller rectangle is sticking out a little then shouldn't it be sticking out from the top as well a little. If you look at the explanation on the lower right quadrant, explanation again does not show the smaller box sticking out but on left top quadrant it shows smaller rectangle to be sticking out. I am confused if it is sticking out or not. If it is not sticking out then choice E or C could be the correct answer, right?
Could it be a discrepancy, that from one side the smaller rectangular sticking out and looking from the opposite side it is not sticking out?

How in this world are we suppose to know/guess that the structure in the below question (attached thumbnail) is slanted?

some the CDP explanations can be confusing or like in this case totally wrong. They clearly don't match up. the only way it can "appear" to stick out but not really stick out. Is in that bottom view, you're viewing it not directing but slight off to the right. But why would they want to do that. It defeats the purpose of the solution and see it from all sides.

You should email them and show it to them. Include your picture. if you're the 1st to report it they'll give you 5 bucks. i found two bugs in CDR and they paid me. they weren't even huge. a display error and sorting/linking error.

Achiever does do a slightly better job with their use of an autocad program. It is much easier to manipulate the sides to see things. You can even use the keyholes to practice for TFE.

I've ran across problems where. I can see why it is that choice but the widths don't match. Technically it all has to match. I'm not sure if its the program doing it or how he drew it up and then draw the keyholes after or use various views to generate the holes.

Don't worry TOO much about CrackDAT PAT. It's really hard. But if you can get 20s on those, you're SET 10000% on the real thing. I doubt you're going to get anything less than a 21 on the real deal if you do well on the CrackDAT PAT. Even if there are some crappy questions like the 2 you posted, it's no use wasting hours trying to figure things out. Leave it, move onto the next test, and get 20+ on those to ensure your good preparation.

It's not wrong.

First, rotate it clockwise 90 degrees.
Then rotate it so the top is facing out of the monitor. There is the answer.

Bleh, the copy I made doesn't look great. Let me try and explain it. You need to make the top of the figure point out toward your face. It also needs to be rotated 90 degrees clockwise. There it is.

If you look carefully at E the bottom part of is it not slanted as it is on the block. The two bottom corners (of rectangle) in E is horizontal whereas on the block (rectangle part) it is not. Hope this helps (I know my wording is prob horrible)

Also, as Baylor said, if you rotate the bloack 90 degrees to the right it will slide into C

why it isnt E:

the rectangle in front has a longer side extending out from the bottom left corner.

the image in E has it looking like a square

I e-mailed CDP, lets see what they say. I agree with you guys but I am a little confused with the explanation as one side shows the smaller rectangle pointing out from the area of larger rectangle, at the same time, rotating the figure and looking at it from the opposite side shows the smaller rectangle does not point out.
