CDP is killing me, First three test 18,19,18

by the time i reach angle, i used up 25 mins

hole punching kills me, i know people have used the tic tac toe grid and such but that is super slow for me.

cubes i have missed 5 every time on CDP, i dont know when something is there or not, when the lingering cube underneath the stack is painted at all. the bottom of it shouldn't be painted but are the sides? if it is
covered from above it wouldnt be exposed.. these 5 are crucial points

and i normally come to patterns with about 6 min left which surprissing 13/13/13 each time

does the line counting work on actual DAT
hole punching tips? timing, etc.

thanks

Have you tried doing sections in a different order? I can do keyholes and angles quickly, so I knock those out first, then cube counting and folding. Usually after doing those four I still have about half an hour left, because those are the four that I'm fastest at. I do hole punches next and do the tic-tac-toe, which does take awhile (about fifteen minutes for me), but that still leaves me plenty of time for TFE. I also tend to waffle on TFE so doing it last helps because I can't let it eat up twenty plus minutes and take away from the rest of the test.

I know it doesn't necessarily seem like that will help your timing, but it's really helped mine. Otherwise, like I said, I get bogged down in TFE and then again in hole punching and don't have enough time to finish everything. It also helps to put your worse sections later (although hole punching is actually one of my better sections, just a slow one, but this applies to TFE for me) so they don't ruin your confidence early on. Even if I manage my time well on TFE I always come out feeling like a total idiot and convinced I'm going to score poorly on a whole, so putting it last keeps the freak-outs to a minimum and keeps me from feeling totally hopeless.

TL;DR version: Put your slowest/worst sections toward the end so that you have both more and less time to work on them and don't ruin your confidence.

don't switch up the order of the sections, its only gonna mess you up on the real test. keep practicing in the proper order

CDP is killing me with their Angles....wtf I got a 3/15 and then a 5/15 on two different exams.

All my other scores are fine but angles are annoying. Ive already watched Ross's (condog51) videos but I feel like these angles are impossible.

Yo Recyrb its V from Chads

Dude I am hella struggling with the angles too right now, it really sucks if you have Kaplan I would try to go back to them and try practicing with them it really does work when you build up your confidence thats what I am doing because I am getting like 10s or 8s when I should be getting 15s, I took the DAT before so I know that was my best section, I am just kinda mad right now too. I might try going back to Kaplan and practice (But I just got the blue book wish I had the online thing)

Hole punching is really practice bro you just starting seeing the different kinds of folds and the more you practice with these the better you get. I am in the same boat but just remember once your mind remembers the kinds of folds you get it memorized the next time around (make sure you watch the answer videos for these)

Line counting works on the DAT but bewareeeeeeee the DAT makers are aware of this so whenever you have eliminated answer choices based on line counting start looking at how the thing would make sense (dotted lines vs. solid lines) - start differentiating those and start imagining holes where there is supposed to be, the proportions all matters (But line counting definitely gives the answer choices for at least 11/15 saving you time which is crucial in this section)

yeah don't switch up the order, you'll actually start spending more time on sections that you don't want to.....keep practicing man I am in the same boat as you guys

BIG Tip: Get Barrons DAT Book I know that is realllllllllllly good for their PAT. Do it for practice on top of CDP. If you are still struggling, look at the strategies they give you. It is really impressive on its PAT.

you shouldnt be writing out your hole punch tic tac toe grids or w/e DURING your PAT section, u should write them all out before you start. bc if u do it DURING it kills mad time. u should also make a few extra in case u mess one up or need to redo a problem.
also hole punching on the real DAT imo, is not as tough as CDP makes it out to be. everything else from cdp is fair game for the DAT i think, except maybe cube counting also is a bit simpler.
