Is the real dat interface more similar to bootcamps or CDRs RC? I just took the first CDR test and my eyes are hurting me from how small the text of the questions was. Also, on bootcamp you are presented with the psg on the top screen with questions at the bottom. You can also jump between questions. On CDR, you first have the option of reading the psg without viewing the the questions. After hitting next you are taken to a screen with the questions on the top and the psg at the bottom. Here, you do not have the option of jumping between questions.

How is the read DAT compared to all of this?

Bump! Another question to add to that... when you move on to the next question will it move your position from the reading spot? For example, if I'm in the middle of the passage for question #1 and click to the next question #2, will it take me back to the beginning of the passage or stay where I left off.

Yes I believe that is the case. One thing I can't find on this forum is whether or not you have the option of selecting which question to jump to like you do in bootcamp.

Also, I did the first 3 CDR tests and I got 16,16,17 :/... On bootcamp I got 18,20,20 on the last 3 tests. On CDR I wasn't able to use the strategy I became comfortable with using Bootcamp because there is just sooo much inference/tone stuff. I'm kinda freakin out because my test date is NEXT SATURDAY 😱 ...

From what I hear you can not jump question to question like you can in bootcamp... on the DAT you would have to keep clicking through.

But I feel your pain, I did well on two of the RC tests on Qvault using SnD but when I tried doing it with Bootcamp I straight quit the exam because it wasn't working... my exam date is coming up soon too so hopefully we can find a sufficient strategy. I think for my next practice I'll go through about 5 of the questions and write a few key words for each so when I'm skimming/reading the passage I'll know what to pay most attention to.

Alright that's fine I guess. I personally did not like S&D and what worked well for me in bootcamp was first, reading the first 5-6 paragraphs and than going through all the questions answering the ones I can. Then reading the next 5-6 paragraphs and going through the questions again answering the ones I can. And finally, finishing the psg and the rest of the questions. I felt like with CDR, the questions are long and for each require me to read through the question and all the answer choices before I can realize if its one I can answer. But what are we gonna do? roll over into a fetal position and weep?

Lol maybe weep just a little bit?

I wouldn't sweat the CDR scores if their passages are more difficult than Bootcamp, almost everything I've read here is that Bootcamp is at least a bit more difficult than the DAT.

1. Each 3 passages first appear as a single passage with no questions. If you press next, the first question will appear BELOW the passage.
2. The passage is in a small window that you can scroll up and down. The mouse hardware does not work with this. You have to manually click and drag the scrollbar to navigate the passage.
3. There is no 'review' button that allows you to pop between questions until you reach the end of the section. This is like all of the other sections for the DAT.
4. The font size is very large.... meaning you need to constantly scroll.

My impressions:
1. I felt as if the questions went in order. So I answered each question as I read the passage and ended up reading the passage completely in this way.
2. My first passage was extremely long. The second one was shorter. The one after that, the shortest! Don't give in to despair.
3. My passages were actually interesting.

I took the DAT on the 5/2/15. It's all pretty fresh in my mind (and in my nightmares).

Thank you for this. Exactly the intel I needed 🙂

Here's an additional question since you took it so recently. On the reading passages, can you click and highlight? Not permanent, but for instance if right now you click-and-drag somewhere on this sentence, then you get a little highlighting feature going on. I find it helps me read the passage but I'm not sure if I'll be able to do this on the actual test.

I want to say no. But I cannot recall exactly. Sorry.

Keep in mind though, it's a small window of large font for the passage (question is always visible). So even if you could highlight, it would sort of go to waste due to the fact that you need to keep scrolling up and down. Simply put, it was annoying and not ideal, sometimes I lost my spot but the numbering for the paragraphs helps. Constant vigilance!
