Celiac Sprue: Best Initial Test

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
As a third one, I've learned anti-gliadin is the best initial test previous to my step 2 studying.

I don't think an exam will ask you between those 3 antibodies. In case it does, I will probably go with transglutaminase as I would rather trust Fischer than whatever I've learned previously.

Both anti-endomyseal and anti-tissue transglutaminase have equal sensitivity. Anti-gliadin is no longer is use due to less sensitivity.

Uptodate:
"As a general rule, testing should begin with serologic evaluation. Immunoglobulin A (IgA) anti-tissue transglutaminase (TTG) antibody is the single preferred test for detection of celiac disease in individuals over the age of two years."
