Ok so the way my school schedules classes I theoretically could take both of these classes but with having to concoct up and write an entire thesis next year, whilst still taking classes, which would be more beneficial for me in dental school should I decide that taking one is more realistic?

Neurobiology seemed more relevant but is based on cell biology so would that be broader and more advantageous? Any opinions would be wonderfully helpful!

I don't recall if neuro is a class in most D-school curricula, but cell bio is for sure.

I had the same debate going into this year

I absolutely LOVED Neurobiology. I do not know if DSchools have it, like @Illfavor said
Cell Bio might help in the long run?

Just checked Baylor's curriculum. It contains cell bio and neuroscience. I would guess that cell bio would provide a better foundation in general.

I think both are on the list of suggested non required classes for most schools. I would say neurology would be a bigger challenge imo.

You definitely take Neuro in dental school; Cell too, I think. I would take both, but if you have to choose then I suggest Cell to give you a strong foundation that will help with future bio classes.

So looks like cell now and if I can manage neuro later? We'll see haha. I still need to do 3 english classes though lol. Thanks everyone

I loved my Neurobiology sequence. Visual, olfactory, and audio transduction can be very hard, and memory transduction is no joke either. Very interesting, if you're up for the challenge I'd highly recommend it.

take neuro. It's the most interesting Bio topic. Cell bio is lame with all the microscopic signaling mechanisms you have to memorize. im a cell bio & neuroscience major, and ive alway hated the cell bio part.

Signaling mechanisms is all neurobiology is... GPCR ring a bell? Secondary messengers...?

i find myself using the stuff i learned in cell in many of my upper level bio courses. id recommend cell for the strong foundation. it would probably help for the dat more too if you haven't taken it yet.

haha at my school thats still cell bio. Ofcourse it has to do with Neuro when it comes down to it. With neuro you start with the fundamentals, Neuroanatomy, all the brain parts, brain stem, going down. You learn exactly how your senses are taken in and depicted by the brain (eyes, ears, periphery etc.) and how the nervous system integrates this information for us to operate the way we do. this all then escalates to current research, involving the most recent studies on how to treat parkinsons, tuber sclerosis etc. I find it very relevant and very interesting as opposed to cell bio, which is really the only course i'm not looking forward to in d school. ofcourse the kid should take cell bio over neuro because its what d schools recommend, however i hate it.

Cell bio for sure. It covers more of what you will be taking in dental school than neurobiology.
