Meant to add, how many apps are out there for the droid phones compared to the iphones?
Sheep.all docs have Iphones (I'm half serious). Join the cult. But wait until September for Iphone 5.
At this point android and iOS both have lots of apps. More android phones are being sold than iphones. However, at some places only iOS can access EMR (although I'm not sure how well it works on an iphone sized device - ipad is great though)
for those tight with money and who don't want to pay for a data plan... i use an iPod Touch for things like Epocrates, Dynamed, etc and for email. I'll probably get a smartphone sometime before residency starts but this does the trick for me right now, assuming your hospital has open wifi (which it really should...)
