Hi,
I thougth the linkages between the monosaccharides in cellulose were beta-glycosidic. My book is telling me that the linkage is in fact alpha-glycosidic. I know cellulose is made of beta-glucose, but why is the linkage alpha-glycosidic?

only starch and glycogen are alpha, Cellulose and Chitin are beta!

yeah, sometimes study guides can be wrong, I would double check on the internet if something looks weird

in this case, prsndwg is right, cellulose is beta(1-4), starch is alpha(1-4) [you can remember this because amylase breaks down starch, and it starts with an "a"]
