Centering your app on a specific specialty

Should my app be centered around a specific specialty or should I not include things like this. For example: did research on Cancer, volunteered with cancer patients, worked on an oncology unit, letter from oncology nurse supervisor etc. I mean this could show that I know what path to go but I might also change since I'm not in Medical School yet.

Mainly, I'm not sure if I should show it in my personal statement or not.

I think you can use those experiences to show how you decided on becoming a doc, but I'm not too sure about mentioning that you're learning towards that specific specialty. Maybe you can leave that out your PS until you start applying for residency 😉

Eh, I did this and it was fine. Your ec's should be things you're interested in and want to talk about. As long as you're not overly cocky or come across as very picky in specialties it should be fine.
