What type of software do you folks use in pathology? We use Cerner. I actually just went to their website, and what we have isn't like anything on there - I think we have the 1950s version. It is unbelievably painful. I spend 7/8 of my day trying to figure what stupid code to type in which stupid line to get what I want.

Just wanted to see what other folks were using and if this is typical. If you want to go to another line, you have to down-arrow down to it - can't use the mouse.

We use Powerpath at Oregon. It has a GUI, however there is far too much redundancy. There's definately room for major improvements, although it beats paper records hands-down.

We use PowerPath here. Although I've gotten used to things here, there are aspects of it that I find terribly annoying.

We use Cerner "CoPath", as well, but I think it is the newest version. One of the affiliate hopsitals uses the previous version where the record actually is brought up into Word before you can edit it, instead of just being able to edit it directly.

Well, we are getting a new system in the next year, and I think Cerner is providing it. However, we also have a recently hired new director of informatics who has some strong opinions on the matter so I am not sure where things lie now. I trust him though since he is like the smartest person I have ever met in my life.

UVA uses copath.

Ugg! My condolences. We used that system in cytology, and it was a real pain in the neck. It's just as bad (or worse) for clinical pathology. Trying to figure out what code to type in for what body fluid cell count was a real joy. I haven't used the "new" windows-based version of co-path, but I enjoyed working with the older version.
