ideally, the certificate will count for the first year of the master's, so you can take the certificate while you apply and if you don't get in just roll it into a master's. otherwise, you should either ask your state dental school what to do, or just guess at which is good enough.
I think a certificate is a rip off in my opinion. You can get a masters for the same price and a masters is a real degree... you can even get the masters in the same amount of time... definitely go for the masters... just my opinion...
It really depends on where you are. In Texas, the three dental schools dont look that highly upon masters. They prefer you keep taking upper level bio and science classes.
