I've been working 30+ hours a week at a retail pharmacy for the past few months and have scheduled to take the (National) certified tech test in a few weeks. For those of you who have taken it, I would like to know what are the primary topics of the test. I don't know how to study for it. Is it just translating sigs (with calculations), pharmacy laws, and drug recognition and uses?

In other words, how much of the test will be based on what I do at my pharmacy daily and how much of the test is NOT derived from daily activities?

Your help much appreciated. Thanks!

The PTCB exam is going to be comprised of a majority of retail or hospital oriented question. I would be familiar with calculation, sigs, and pharmacy law. If you really want to know what the test is like you can pay to have access to a practice exam at the PTCB web site. The test isn't bad at all, if you have been "paying attention", you should do fine.

Good Luck!
