Quick question. It's been a long time since I went through this, but when someone finalizes their application, do all of your LORs and personal statements have to be there? I guess my question is can you apply to programs before all of your LORs are in?

Thanks!

1. No

2. Yes

At this point, check due dates before you apply. A few of my programs had due dates of Oct 1 and it would suck to spend the money to submit to programs that aren't accepting anymore.

Old thread, I know, but wanting to clarify if this is still the case.

My understanding is that "Certify/submit" will finalize the bulk of the application including education, experience, licensure, and publications. And it should not finalize anything with personal statements or LORs, as these can be added and directed to different programs at any later date.

Can anyone confirm? Thanks!

You can add personal statements and LORs after certifying, but you cannot remove them. And you cannot edit the personal statement after it has been sent to a program (you can make a new one, though).
