certiphi screening for 2013

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I completely forgot to put down the dorms as a past residence, and I just remembered I am registered to vote at that address... am I in trouble?

Should I try to contact them and add the address? Although I think they make a big deal about submission being final...

They will find it if it is on any public record. Just relax. Your ok.

Finally got mine back. Took 10 days 😳
If you've lived in more than one state and/or internationally, it may take a while.

Wow! Was that 10 business days or 10 days total?

Dorms are not a permanent address if you were still being claimed by your parents. Permanent would be their address.

I hope.

Got mine back today. Clear. Whew!

Took 8 days total, and I've lived in the same city my whole life.

Got my report today! Submitted: 01/09 Received: 01/21. Moved a bit around the country and lived in two other countries so they took a bit but it all looks good 🙂

So... if they couldn't verify any of my addresses, is it still ok that I released it? Please tell me I'm overthinking this... I shouldn't have disputed it over that, right?

:scared:

We've touched on this earlier and mostly agreed that the criminal history is what schools really care about. I'm probably going to run into this, too. You could always call the school(s) if you're really worried. If you do, please let us know what they said if you don't mind. Good luck!

Submitted 1/12/13, cleared and received 1/22/13. Clean as a whistle, but mixed with my father's addresses and PO boxes. I saw nothing that said unverified. Weird. Oh well, gunna go ahead and release. Good luck to the rest of you.

For anyone else who had "unverified addresses": I contacted Admissions at one of my schools, and was told this is a nonissue. As long as there is no problem with your SSN and criminal records, they are not concerned. 🙂

Thanks for the info 👍

does Certiphi automatically send the report to schools after we've released it? or do we have to select each school individually?

I got the email today at 1:23 PM PST. Finished filling out the form and received the confirmation at 1:44 PM PST.

Let's see how long it takes them to find out I am a murderer that has killed someone in every US state before deciding to change my life, take the MCAT, spend the money on secondaries and interviews and come off as an unbelievably charming person that was somehow able to get a few acceptances.

Amen brother!

I haven't received the Certiphi email yet... got accepted >2 weeks ago, what do I do? 🙁

I received the CBC email the other day. The catch is that I have not yet been accepted anywhere. Does this mean I got accepted somewhere but just haven't heard? 😱

I seem to recall that happening earlier in this thread or in the "how did you react" thread... Hope you hear good news soon!

If you call certiphi, they can tell you who requested the CBC. Also, I read that some schools get CBCs for their waitlist.

What is the longest time anyone has waited/is currently waiting to receive the report after submission?

From this thread? 10 days.

From personal knowledge? 15 days but that person had multiple foreign addresses because of a parent in the military that lived in like four different countries at multiple addresses in each country.

Mine has been 20 days thus far. I finally called today and Certiphi can't even find the misdemeanor I reported to them and on AMCAS. They even asked me to get the case number myself and give it to them. Does this mean I get the $ for doing their job for them?

Wow. That's hardcore, man.

Hah! That's hilarious. Was it expunged? Maybe the agencies aren't reporting it because it's expunged. I always find it funny how when you submit to background checks they ask you to report stuff including expunged cases. What's the point of the reward of expungement after 7 years if you still have to report it? I think that's bull, personally.

Anyway, I can't believe they they're asking you to get the case number yourself. I'd be like, "Uhm, no? I reported it. The schools are paying you to find it." If they don't ever find it, I'd just leave it off. You already reported it and explained it via AMCAS, which should be sufficient. Just MHO, though. Congrats on getting in/waitlisted!

Yeah it's definitely a bunch of nonsense. It wasn't expunged but what do they think I did, lied about having a record to make my background seem more colorful? I've already spent plenty of time explaining myself in essays, interviews, etc. and I just want it to be over and done with so I can start taking care everything else necessary for starting school in August.

LoL, I know, right? "I'm going to make-up some long drawn out story to seem more interesting and memorize a huge script of consistent lies to back it up." I feel your pain man. I can only imagine how difficult it is to perpetually defend yourself. People make mistakes. At least you obviously found a school that felt the same way. Good luck!

Just got my report back. I've released my report. Is there anything else I have to do?

Attend medical school for four years, do residency and rack up your debt.

Being serious, probably nothing for a while assuming you have done your FAFSA. A few months before school you will get a checkup, vaccinations and probably have to study for a HIPPA quiz right before school starts.

Ah, thanks. I need to do my taxes and FAFSA. Blah.

By the way, my report took nearly a month. And I've lived in my state my entire life. It's probably because I listed that I had a misdemeanor (traffic offense) on my record. I actually looked up the black letter/statutory law of my moving violation, and the books said it was a misdemeanor. But Certiphi didn't find anything. I guess maybe a traffic offense is technically a misdeamnor, but once you pay the exorbitant fine, it gets wiped from your record. Whatever. I disclosed it, and Certiphi says I have a clean record.

Finally received my screen results this morning. Took a solid 29 days. *facepalm*

For those with completed background checks, did you get a date range for the Date Issued for SSN, or a specific day?

Just want to say "Your Welcome" to everyone on this thread that I started.

Bump.

Anyone? I'm asking because I had a date range (which seems kind of odd to me), so wanted to make sure this is normal before releasing my report.

I just looked up my report. I have a date range too... and my date range is almost a year after my DOB. I don't know if that's normal but I released it anyways?

It's normal. You're not assigned a number when you're born, as crude as this is, because you might die before you need one.

Does anyone know if you get another "release request" from Certiphi for any subsequent schools that you get accepted/waitlisted at?

Surprised it took so long for some lol. I submitted mine one day and got the results literally the next day. And I've lived in multiple states. Thought it would have taken longer...
