Cervical positioning system?

I'm looking for an affordable cervical positioning system to do cervical ESI/MBB/RFA. We are currently only using pillows and it's a hassle to setup at times. I've looked into the Oakworks Cervical Positioning system but that costs >1k. Will the Oakworks Prone Pillow serve as a more affordable alternative (and fluoroscopy usable)? Wondering if anyone has experience with such product.

try the “pron pillow”. I used to use an oakworks in asc. I like this much better. Stumbled onto it when I needed something to use in my office fluoro suite and a colleague was using it for acupuncture. I had asc buy one and oakworks collects dust.

Have had Oakworks system for more than 10 years....if you do a lot of cervical well worth the money

Seems adequate to me. I put a regular pillow under the chest at base of positioner and make sure patient slides up far enough to head of table to get face fully in opening.

Too stiff for my old folks to get comfy. Tried it.

We have the oakworks, it doesn’t seem to put any flexion in the neck. I would also second that most people find it uncomfortable.

Call or email OakWorks. If they ran a "promotion" recently at a trade show they will offer you that discounted price if you ask them if they can give you a discount.

We use a rolled up towel that the patient flexes and puts his/her forehead on. Works fine.

Pillow under chest, sponge in bouffant cap under forehead.

I find that these frames interfere with getting a good CLO. Between the lead skirt on the table and the frame, I can only get about 35 degrees of interference-free CLO usually. I just gave up on the frame and went to a rolled up towel under the forehead. Anyone else have this issue?

I have the Oakworks, use it for most cervical procedures, but agree it is not ideal, as it does not promote cervical flexion. Extra pillows under the chest can help though. The problem is that it tends to slide forward, causing chin to contact the uncushioned portion of the cutout. I am thinking I need to apply some kind of grip tape underneath it to prevent it form sliding. Otherwise, in fellowship, we used this: Spine Positioning System II, C-arm and Urology Accessories, 81819
Has been a while since fellowship, so I don't really remember how well it worked, as it was all I knew at the time, but I would think it would work much better than the basic Oakworks prone pillow. Not sure how much it costs, but probably a lot more...a Google search suggests that the price is $1300.

Oakworks helps for cervical RF for sure, that’s the only time I use it. Even though it seems like common sense to me, I really have to coach patients on the right way to lie down on it so the forehead is resting on the pad and face in the hole. I feel like patients’ brains just shut down when you ask them to lie on the table. If left to their own devices many will choose pretty odd and/or uncomfortable looking positions.
