Question 1:
How well do chads ochem videos work for someone who is taking oChem 1 right now. The material is all over the place, and Im trying to get organized and master it, and people say chad is the way to go.

Question 2🙁Must be answered, dont bother answering one question and not the other)
How much is it? I only need for like 2-3 weeks and I'll be set.
My main problem is mechanisms right now, I just want to get it down to the point of no second guessing myself, and does chad focus a lot of mechanisms.

Thanks

Ouch... Idk how Chad's would work if you've never seen the material before. It's 50 bucks for 30 days of access to two subjects. Make sure you choose the DAT Videos though. They're worth it.

Chad ignores a lot of mechanisms. I had to learn 40 or so for my first semester of organic and it was horrible. Like... really horrible. The DAT doesn't really emphasize mechanisms at all. And for the questions that are more complicated, all you have to know is what the product is. So as long as you understand the pattern and what happens "at the end", you're fine. OC on the DAT places more emphasis on EAS stuff, conceptual questions, and common reactions than it does complicated mechanisms. The DAT is also far simpler than real organic chem classes... You just have to broadly understand a lot of stuff. I can't imagine having to take that test without using Chad's just because there would've been so much extraneous info in my brain, with not enough attention paid to the concepts actually being tested.

Q1: I think they're probably the best way to go. He tends to provide shortcuts.

Q2:
I believe if you order the individual subjects they're actually $25 for a month, but theres a package for $50 for QR,Gen chem and Ochem. I was used to learning mechanisms at my university so I kind of freaked out when I noticed Chad didn't really spend too much time on mechanisms, but apparently DAT not that specific...🙂

In undergrad I never went to class for Orgo 1 OR 2. I did awful as you might guess.

In studying for the DAT, Chad's videos were the only source that I benefited from for OC.
I got a 22 on OC so I think Chad's does a good enough job of covering a majority of the questions you might see on the DAT.
Pair it with the quizzes and another source of practice questions like Bootcamp and I think you're set.

Thanks everybody, it looks like Chad isn't what I need right now, because the mechanisms aren't his focus. I will try my best to learn every mechanism my professor gives, its good hearing the DAT is not too mechanism savy though.

Oh... you meant to use him for your class? I read things wrong. I assumed you were preparing for the DAT. Mmmm... I don't think he'd help a ton haha. He does breadth, not depth.

@OSUkid , get resources in this order:
1. OChem as Second Language- both books
2. Khan Academy
3. Chads OC college (not DAT) videos

I had ochem 2 at 8am. It was good sleeping in until the first exam came.
