We all know that this whole process just sucks. Travelling, renting cars, spending money that we do not have.

However, it was all worth it when the chairman for the next 4 years called me. Opening the envelope was awesome. Checking my email on Monday was awesome. But nothing compared to the feeling as when I answered the unknown number on my cell phone at 1:00 CST and talked to the man I was hoping would rank me high enough to match for 3 months.

Then I exhaled and got really drunk. Also, my wife cried (she really did not want to leave New Orleans.)

Did your chairman/PD call? How did you feel?

I wouldn't worry about it too much if you haven't heard anything yet....its been a crazy week for them as well, I know our program director was gettting TONS of phone calls from people still trying to get spots (even though we filled), but she is THRILLED by our stellar match (and was even seen doing the happy dance in front of the main OR board).
Congrats to all....it sounds like it was a really tough year, we met tons of great folks who came through our interviews at Univ of Washington, would have been great to be able to take more (and we're trying to add 3-5 more positions for next year, so hopefully it will be the same).
