GPA - 3.65
AA/TS/PAT - 23/25/19
English Literature major
Still have to take physics next year
23 years old (2 years out of college)
150 hrs shadowing \New York Resident

I know I am a pretty strong applicant, probably have 80th percentile scores with respect to the posters on this board. Im applying to a wide range of schools, but the only schools I REALLY want to go to are Stony Brook, Buffalo, and University of the Pacific.

In regards to these 3 schools, where do you think I stand? A 50/50 shot? Slightly better? Much better?

Im pretty constantly stressing out over this, but I'd just like to know where I stand.

Where do you stand in terms of your science GPA? Your DAT scores are competitive.

Sci GPA is probably around a 3.5. In my first semester I got a D in calc, B- in chem, and B+ in bio. Since 1st semester I have gotten all A's in every science class, ... also TA'd organic chem and genetics

I think that your scores are awesome!
Assuming that you have decent ECs and a solid PS, I am confident that you will get lots of interviews (including your top 3 choices).

Good luck 😀

is this cycle rly that much more competitive? its making me nervous...

This is like the late 70s early 80s all over again. soon the output of dental students will get too high, there will be an enrollment crash, and the cycle will repeat itself. If only you were born 10 years earlier. 3.3 17 AA was competitive back in 2000.

rly? how do u know all this? how does this yr compare to last yr? i want to get into ucsf so badly but the avg gpa seems to fluctuate from yr to yr--was hoping it would dip this yr

I get the feeling this cycle is going to be absurdly competitive. Much nastier than last year. But this is just following the anecdotal evidence from this website.

Well it was really a joke...

But yea dental school enrollment peaked in the early 80s and started dropping with the whole oversaturation and then schools started closing and blah blah blah. As for the stats, just look at the stats here from 2002 or go to the schools website and look at their stats or find old adea stats.

Here's Pittsburgh's for you.
