Okay so on my practice exams I am consistently scoring 19's in the sciences and 21's in the QR and RC section - sometimes a few points above, sometimes a few points below, but all generally in that range. How are my chances looking given the following:

Indiana Resident (Would love to go to IU but also looking at Howard as a great alternative - both have advantages I like)
19/20AA
19/20PAT
18TS
3.60 overall gpa
3.33 science gpa
Heavily involved in research for 2 years - In a couple of research programs/initiatives
Race: African American/Black
Heavily involved in community service - especially in inner city
Tutor/TA
President Pre-Dental Club
Great letters from Provost, Research PI, and science professor, as well as my another professor
Personal Statement is pretty good (still needs a little more work but assuming it gets there)
Shadowing 200 hours (20 with oral surgeon, 30 with pediatric, 30 with ortho, 120 with gp)

What are my chances of getting in this cycle? I am thinking of applying June 1st definitely to IU and Howard, but not sure if I have a chance at any other schools...

akakakakak,

Your science GPA is average but your overall credentials are fantastic, but until you take the exam and have actual scores I don't think anyone can predict if will get an interview/acceptance. Timed test are not fool proof nor 100 percent accurate on predicting scores, If you score 20/20 or higher on the ACTUAL DAT you should have an excellent chance at both schools, but that's not to say you could not get in with less. There are many factors considered, with the GPA and DAT score being the top 2..

When are you taking the DAT?

Wishing you the best..

Nancy

BTW - The personal statement is often overlooked by students and can often be the door opener to an interview. Make you personal statement shine and get help if needed.

Nancy,

My DAT exam date is in a month from tomorrow - I am really trying grind out Destroyer as much as I can till then...
