Hello SDN communities,

I am interested in applying to DO program.

My stats:

Resident: California
cGPA: 3.54
sGPA: 3.36
MCAT: 502 (PS: 128, Cars: 123, B/B: 128, Psych: 123)

120+ hours volunteer at Oncology/Hem clinic Loma Linda University
1 award presentation.
Participate in FPL programs with emphasis on community services (100+ hours)
Domino Pizza's Driver
2700 hours of being Chemistry Tutor

Shadowing:
Family physician: 30 hours
Vascular surgeon: 48 hours
DO-Internist: 20 hours (he only allow me 4 hours / week for a month)

LOR:
2 from college professors (chemistry + biology)
1 from MD
1 from DO
1 from volunteer coordinator

I know I may not have a chance at top tier DO school. Can you guys recommend some school? Or should I do post-bac program?

Thank you, I appreciate everything.

Whats your AACOMAS gpa?
You're gonna need 1 more letter of rec to apply. I think its 2 science + 1 non science in lieu of a committee letter for most schools.

The MCAT score is the problem, not the GPAs.

I recommend any DO program, specially the newest ones (except for LUCOM). I suggest skipping the coastal Touros, CCOM and AZCOM.

Thank you Goro & Cardboard,

I will try some of the programs that my GPA fit in. I don't know if they are MCAT heavy though.

Thanks a lot.

Does he have a reasonable shot at mid tier programs, i.e. LECOM or CUSOM with his stats?

Oh, I guess I will add these 2 in my list. I was hesitate a bit about LECOM. Should I apply to both campus of LECOM?

Thanks.

I really hope you get in! I have a similar GPA but your extracurriculars are great.

@md_do_hopeful2021 hey, I hope you get in too if you apply this cycle. maybe we can go to the same med school haha. Good luck to you.

I just updated some new info, and hoping for some chances... getting worried as the cycle approaches.

"2700 hours of being Chemistry Tutor"

Jesus.

You might need a 3rd non science letter from faculty for some schools.

Yeah you're right. I'm getting one from my Ethnic Studies professor. I think NOVA specifically wants this.
