Hi there,
I am a father in a small MA town.
My science gpa is 3.33, overcall gpa 3.43
I have 100 volunteer hours at Children's Hospital in Boston
I have 2000+ hours of clinical experience as a nursing assistant at a local hospital on a orthopedic surgical/med surg floor.
In a MA Alpha Chapter for Pre-med students at my college
Taking the MCAT this April
Shadowing a couple doctors (MD/DO) this spring
First generation college student
Work 30 or more hours a week usually (2-3 12hr 7pm-7am shifts a week)
Applying this upcoming cycle
What are my chances and how can I improve?
Thanks!

If you're still in school try and raise that GPA and make sure to nail the MCAT. Can't comment on DO or MD without MCAT scores vs. GPA

With your gpa, a 27 or higher would give you a good shot at the less competitive DO schools. I would not consider MD unless your science gpa leaves the 3.3 range.

more like a 24. Don't know what this will equate to on the new MCAT though...
