Hey everyone, just seeing if my scores and GPA give me a chance at any of these schools:

UWash (Got a personal rec. from chair of admissions at the graduate school (hes also tenure), and adjunct professor at the dental school)

BU
UMaryland
UF
Nova
USC
UCSF
UI Chicago
NYU

DAT Scores:
QR - 15 :scared:
Ochem - 23
GChem -19
Bio - 20
RC - 19
PAT - 18
TS - 21
AA - 19

My overall gpa is a 3.12 and my BCP is probably not very much above a 2.7 (i live in florida and got hit with 6 hurricanes..its all backuped in my letters of rec, and personal statement). I got an A in bio 1, B in bio II, B in chem 1, C in chem II, C in organic 1 for the first time, C in organic II, B in organic I the second time after rehab from hurricanes, B in General Physics I, and an A in Gen Physics II), my overall science GPA is a 3.0-3.2, I got a stellar letter of rec from my O-chem professor. I got an As in a few science classes and B in other science classes.

Starting my academic career i had straight As for a whole year, then when we got hit by Hurricane Charley I lost a lot but managed to stay in school so i could keep my health insurance.

After the hurricanes I started classes again to rebuild my life, and started a research position where I am first author on a recently submitted paper to Antiviral Research (a peer-reviewed journal) and contributing author on 6 other manuscripts that are being written currently.

This is all on my application as well as all my extra curricular and 250 hours of dental medicine shadowing.

That one year really messed up my BCP GPA but I came back strong, hopefully this will look good?

My contact at Uwash is going to talk directly with the school of medicine to see what he can do as far as recommendation but that stuff only goes so far

I would suggest you call the schools and see what they have to say about your stats as well. Truthfully, although given your circumtances and upward trend, a 2.7 in BCP with 19/18 probably won't cut it. Try to focus on UWash since you know a professor in UWash that will probably be your best shot.

You better use that contact to the best of your advantage, because your stats otherwise (to be blunt) don't make you a very competetive candidate. You'll be lucky to get an interview. UW is arguably one of the best dental schools in the country...hope your contact is good.
