Your chances overall are very good (~90%). Considering you only have two summers of research and have applied to some highly-selective, research-oriented schools, your chances at them may depend on how well you demonstrated your leadership potential in other ways. An intriguing PS, strongly supportive LORs, and dynamic interview style will all be important.

Thank you for the response. Anyone else? I am still putting together my school list (I have only submitted to two schools) so any advice with respect to the school list would be much appreciated. My focus is really on the more competitive schools on the list.

Ok great. Could you elaborate on what you mean by demonstrating leadership in other ways?

Thanks!

p.s. I typed my previous quick response before I saw your post.

Top schools aim to train future leaders in medicine. Your chances of an acceptance by one of them lies with whether your application supports this potential, backed up by your LOR writers.

You have mentioned experiences as President of an active, nationally recognized club on campus. What did you accomplish during your tenure? How much of a difference did you make? What new initiatives did you actuate? Or did you mainly run meetings?

You also have experience as a tutor. How much responsibility did you take on? Any organizational roles? What did you achieve?

These are rhetorical questions which I don't intend you to answer, but your description of these activities may be key in engaging the interest of adcomms..

Thank you for your insight. Would you advise that I broaden my school list a bit or is it fine as it is?

I am not so sure. I am wary of overestimating the value schools place on being an URM, but I appreciate your input.
